Let’s Talk Bookish: What Makes Me Pick Up A Book

Let’s Talk Bookish is a weekly meme, hosted by Rukky @ Eternity Books & Dani @ Literary Lion, where they discuss certain topics, share their opinions, and spread the love by visiting each others’ posts.

Happy Friday, friends!

This week’s prompt: What Makes You Pick Up a Book? (suggested by Rafaela @ The Portuguese Bibliophile)

What makes you pick up certain books? Is a pretty cover enough?

My process in picking books has changed over time. I’m really selective on what I read now because my free time is so limited. Nowdays, all the books I buy come from the Kindle eBook deals. If it’s a book I’m not familiar with, then the cover is definately what catches my attention first. Then I take a quick look at the rating on Amazon. For all books I’m considering, I read the synopsis and reviews of Goodreads. On Goodreads, the book has to have like a 3.8 to 5 star rating. I also read the reviews to see what people liked and didn’t like about the book. Then, I finally make my choice on purchasing the book.

Do you look for diversity or #ownvoices?

I don’t specifically look for them but I usually buy them if they meet my criteria or if I’ve heard good things about them in other places.

Do you have autobuy authors?

No, not really because sometimes books by the same author aren’t always of the same quality. If it’s an author I like, then I’ll be more likely to buy it but not autobuy. I would still want to read other reviews on it.

Thanks for reading! I look forward to checking out everyone else’s posts!
