What It’s About:
43 year old Paige Moresco has been living through a fog for the past two years after her husband died in a tragic car accident. Paige has to keep it to gather for both her teenage son and their financial security. The marketing company where she has worked for her entire career now has new owner with a completely different vision for the company and her job is now on the line. After making a new friend at the farmer’s market and drinking one two many wine glasses, Paige decides to plant a garden in her back yard. Little does she know that her garden will create so many opportunities to turn her life around.
Overall thoughts:
This was an easygoing story that was a quick read. The characters are likable and the story went at a good pace. There were a few moments in the story that felt a little cliche but overall the story was a nice respite from having just finished reading The Water Dancer by Ta Ne-hisi Coates, which I also reviewed here. Honestly, my favorite parts were when the story focused on Paige’s time at work dealing with the pressure from her new boss. Paige had a great relationship with her previous boss with old school views but then the business went to his son who completely changed how it was run. It was interesting to see how Paige had to get out of her completely out of her comfort zone while sticking to her core values to literally keep her job.
I purchased this book when it was listed as a Kindle daily deal so I only paid a few dollars for it. I don’t regret the purchase at all. I saw it come up again on the Kindle deals so you could possibly catch it on sale. If you are looking for a feel-good chick lit book, this book fits the bill.
